The lack of access to sanitary items in South Africa can cause interruptions in girls’ schooling, thereby creating a barrier to education. Apart from missing school, girls often face challenges such as shame and embarrassment around their personal hygiene.

Under the Siyakhula Girls Project, RivLife hosts the CARE DRIVE each August which aims to support the provision of free hygiene products to girls who are in their final year of schooling. The event also works as a catalyst for safer dialogues about female health as many girls face stigma and embarrassment regarding their bodies each day.

How can you help? Become a donor of the CARE DRIVE this year. Donate as little as R50.00 towards a CARE PACK (which carries a pack of sanitary towels, a roll-on, and a beauty soap) or alternatively, pack your own parcel and deliver it to our offices in Eastwood, Pietermaritzburg. The closing date for contributions is the last Monday of August each year.
