RivLife began a partnership with Tiger Brands in 2022 to help facilitate a Community Garden Project that could act as a source of income to vulnerable members of Ward 34, Msunduzi Municipality. The programme runs for 18 months (a full cycle) and consists of a monthly training session conducted by Food and Trees for Africa. The gardening team learns about soil conditions, harvesting as well as entrepreneurial skills. They use the property to grow their own veggies and a portion of it is taken home for them to consume or sell. The remainder goes back to our nutrition programme at the centre that feeds 80-100 children daily. Thus far, the project has been largley successfully and seen the recruitment of 18 members of our community.
